Giving Birth to The Digital Mom Handbook
I just gave birth.
It was a little different than the other 4 times.
I didn't gain any weight.
I didn't have any odd cravings.
I didn't have to have my husband help me put on my shoes.
I didn't worry about peeing my pants when I laughed.
I didn't worry about drinking a glass of wine or eating raw sushi.
I didn't even have to PUSH!
Actually, this birth was kind of an easy one... well, so to speak...
I have birthed "The Digital Mom Handbook" with my dear blogging friend and fellow Lifetime Mom, Colleen Padilla.
Oh, yes... The Digital Mom Handbook: How to Blog, Vlog, Tweet, and Facebook Your Way to a Dream Career at Home.

You know, it's funny... I remember once reading a quote that went a little something like this, "If there's a book you want to read, but it hasn't been written yet, then you must write it." That was kind of the mentality about this book.
We knew we wanted to share information. We knew we wanted to lay out a strategy for moms. We knew we wanted to encourage more moms to become digital moms. We wanted to share... simply what we know.
Not only that, the final version of this book is nothing what we originally thought the book would be like. We laid out a 20+ page proposal and presented it to our agent, she looked at it and got back to us. We were so nervous and excited about the whole world of publishing, and I'll never forget what happened. We had mentioned 7 steps in our proposal about becoming a Digital Mom. We had narrowed it down to 7 steps we thought were necesassary to take this "blogging" thing and make money at it. She called us and said, "That's your book, these 7 steps." And like that - our book morphed into what we have today.
I never understood when others said the whole mentality of birthing a baby is like birthing a book.
Now I know.
This book has become a piece of me. It's an extension of both me and Colleen. It's our thoughts and ideas and opinions and everything. We have collected stories and analyzed data and statistics. We have put all of ourselves into this book, and it's HERE. It's finally here to show the world.
It's a "pinch me" moment.
My mother asked me the other night, while the book was in my hand... "What do you want people to take away from this book?"
I thought about it for a second... and it really comes down to 1 thing:
It's possible.
Plain and simple.
We say in our book over and over again... whether it's someone trying to make an extra $500 a month... trying to support their family... whatever your goal is, try it. And go for it!
