Have You Started Your 100 List?

I’m sure you’ve seen them by now, the bucket list, the mighty life list or even the dream list. Everyone is saying to create a list of 100 things you want to accomplish or complete in your life to help find happiness. Have you started yours?

I started my Mighty Life List shortly after reading Karen’s article on Chookooloonks.com and she actually got the idea from Maggie of MightyGirl.com. Then recently I started reading 168 Hours by Laura Vanderkam and the concept came up again.

The idea that following your passions will lead to happiness isn’t new, but how many people, how many moms, really follow through. How many moms complain that there just isn’t enough time to pursue their dreams and passions?

In Laura’s book she says, “When you focus on what you do best, on what brings you the most satisfaction, there is plenty of space for everything.”

A few months ago I read an article in the Washington Post by Brigid Schulte that really hit home, “Americans devote their lives to work. It’s work that defines who we are and how we find our passion.”

Does that sound right to you? We shouldn’t live to work, we should work to live!

We as Americans and as mothers should follow the Greek philosophy that a life of leisure should be a human’s highest aim. We should devote our time to pursue what we love the most. Work is only a means to get us there.

This is why I started my 100 things to do list; there are so many things I want to accomplish in my lifetime, keeping a record of them will help ensure I get them done.

Are you following you passion? What’s on your list?
