Back-to-School Fashions (for YOU!)
I must admit, I do this. I've done it for the last 2 years. I'll be doing it again in a month... and I'm hoping I'm not alone. I dress up for the first day of school. Let me clarify, my SONS' first day of school. In all actuality, it's probably the first days of school... but I do, I dress up in some of my "new" back to school clothes and I head on in and drop the boys off.
By the looks of the other mothers from previous years... truthfully, I know I'm not really alone. Mothers who work from home. Mothers who work out of the home. And stay at home mothers. We all do it. It's funny as the school year progresses, though. We go from wearing our most favorite pair of jeans with a black cashmere turtleneck, decked in stunning accessories... to fleece pants and hoodie with no make-up and a ponytail.
So, as I'm again getting the boys prepped and ready for school with some adorable Fall 2009 styles, I've also been doing a little shopping and looking for myself. There are some must-haves for kids, just like there are some must-haves for mothers. First on my list? The Boyfriend Jacket.
The Boyfriend Jacket is back. And it's back in full force. Slightly over-sized, to give the appearance that you've borrowed your boyfriend's jacket, you can't go wrong with this amazing blazer for the Fall. I had my first boyfriend jacket back in the early 1990's. It was my favorite. I used to wear it all the time. I would roll up the sleeves, revealing a striped silk fabric. It was the coolest jacket I had. So when I saw that boyfriend jackets were back, I knew I had to get one. I love how the look is fresh and young and feminine and trendy. It's definitely on the checklist for back to school fashions (MOMS). I love any kind of clothing item that can be worn throughout the week and on weekends. To work, and not to work. Versatile to the core.
Wear a boyfriend jacket with jeans, leggings, trouser pants, skirts or over a dress. Allow the blazer to become a part of the outfit, not just worn as an actual "jacket." Really have some fun with this item. I can assure you, you will be one chic mom pulling into the parking lot of school (in your mom van wheels) on the first day of school. Even change the look of it with a scarf or a beret... if you dare! ;)
