Best and Worst Dressed of the 2012 ACM Awards
Country music fans like myself were glued to their TVs last night to see the who's who of country music (and then some!) at the Academy of Country Music awards. There were great duets and collaborations (hello Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw!), a few uncomfortable jokes, a lot of mentions of Tim Tebow (is he dating Taylor Swift or not?), and of course, a whole lot of style. Check out some of my favorite looks from the evening, plus some that had me cringing.
The Hits of the Evening
Country Music's princess Taylor Swift looked white hot in this white column gown with cutouts and gold detailing by J. Mendel.
Carrie Underwood always looks amazing, and last night was no exception as she wowed in this pale yellow, embellished Abed Mahfouz gown and Oscar de la Renta shoes.
Miranda Lambert, wife of the night's co-host Blake Shelton, looked downright dazzling in a gold Randi Rahm halter gown and Fred Leighton jewelry. It was a big night for Lambert - she won Female Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year.
Nicole Kidman looked elegant, if not slightly understated, in a black L'Wren Scott sheath dress with a sheer neckline. But let's be honest - when Nicole Kidman is at the country music awards, no one is looking at her - they're looking at her hunky husband, Keith Urban. (Or, at least, I am.)
Jennifer Nettles of the duo Sugarland looked lovely in this coral Max Azria gown with sheer lace panels, though I do wish that she had ditched the iffy neon yellow belt.
I'm a huge fan of her music, but I am definitely not a fan of Martina McBride's Georges Chakra dress. It looked like her dress was growing - it kind of just grosses me out.
Um, the 80's called and they want their taffeta back. Aside from the obvious Angelina Jolia leg-wannabe fail, this dress is just awful in so many ways. There is way too much going on - one shoulder, long sleeved, crystal embellishments, brightly colored, and a ridiculously high slit which makes me slightly nervous that I'm going to see her lady bits. Sorry Sara Evans, this just didn't work.
Good Lord, LeAnn Rimes is a hot mess. And not in a good way. This asymmetrical patterned dress from Stella McCartney was all wrong, both for the occasion and in general. She clearly did not hire a stylist for the occasion. If she did - then they should most definitely be fired.
