Cindy Crawford's 10-Year-Old Daughter Makes Modeling Debut
Like mother, like daughter! Cindy Crawford’s daughter is following in her mother’s footsteps as a fashion model.
10-year-old Kaia Gerber just made her modeling debut as the face of Young Versace, the sleek fashion house's line for children ages 0-12. And Crawford is thrilled about it.
“I’m so thrilled that Kaia was chosen to be part of the first Young Versace Campaign,” the supermodel said in a press release. “I have so many fond memories of the times I spent with Gianni and Donatella.”
Hmmm, that’s funny. I dug around a bit to see if Crawford has always been a cheerleader for the modeling industry. Turns out she hasn’t been.
In a 2009 interview with a German Magazine, Crawford was asked what she liked most about being in her 40s and she responded, “Being at peace with yourself, knowing about your strengths beyond being pretty.”
Doesn’t she want her daughter to know her strengths beyond being pretty BEFORE she hits forty?
And she didn’t sound rah rah about it in 2010 when she told talk show host Rachael Ray that Kaia talked about modeling as a career.
“Hopefully I can keep her away from it for a little while,” she said at the time.
There’s no denying that Kaia is a beautiful young lady (I’d kill for that hair), and the ad is certainly tasteful (although the skirt is a WEE bit short). But is this a gateway to some racier photos down the road?
Let's just hope Cindy can use her experience in the industry to educate her offspring from the pitfalls that can come with the seemingly very glamorous industry.
Would you let your young daughter become a fashion model?
