Cover Girl and Cocktails
Oooh, the Smoky Eye. The elusive yet incredibly sexy blend of dark shadows, liner, and just basic hotness. Desired by most, accomplished by few, I find it to be one of the most attempted and failed "looks" out there. Seriously, because putting all of that dark shadow on your eyelid and trying to smudge it at just the right angle but THEN? Then somehow you've got to make it blend into your skin too - you know, because black eyeshadow is really easy to make cooperate. Know what else is super easy? Trying to repeat the same thing on the other eye so that they are even. Ha! Good luck, sister.
Have you ever tried the smoky eye? It’s hard, but it's popular. All the cool kids are doing it. Heck, even Amanda Seyfried requested a sexy smoky eye for her recent appearance on the cover of Lucky Magazine.
Cover Girl has recently launched some really cool kits sold exclusively at WalMart that will allow you to help achieve the perfect Smoky Eye. It's actually incredibly simple (finally! A simple way to achieve this look!) thanks to the way they have it laid out. The kits include the mascara, eyeliner, and shadow necessary to create the look - and 3 different looks are possible: natural, bold, glamorous. Oh, and did I mention that it comes with step-by-step instructions?
Last week I was in NYC and was asked to play hostess (along with my dear friend and Lifetime Mom Katja Presnal) to some of the coolest bloggers around to introduce them to the newest kits from Cover Girl. Of course my answer was a resounding YES! A cocktail hour, awesome women, and makeup? Where do I sign up?
The Roger Smith Hotel graciously hosted our event in their Penthouse, and I was thrilled to spend time with some of my favorite women - some I had met, some who were old friends, and some whom I've wanted to meet for so long that I was worried they might think I was stalking them. I was thrilled to meet Sara and Hallie from Seventeen Magazine, Kristin from Fashion Style Beauty, Victoria from I'm Not Obsessed, Philadelphia Radio personality and TV host Joey Fortman, Joani Reisen from MomSpace, and E-Beauty Daily blogger/writer/all-around awesome chick Aly Walansky. I was also thrilled to see the incredible Nichelle from Style Mom, and fellow Lifetime Mom Colleen from Classy Mommy.
We had a blast talking about everything from makeup to men, and everyone had a chance to try the newest kits themselves. As a mom, I love anything that has the ability to make my life just a little bit easier (since my makeup routine usually consists of me also "applying" mascara to Tigger, as well), and the new smoky eye kits definitely do that.
Thanks to everyone who attended our little NYC cocktail hour - I can't wait to see you all again at Fashion Week!
