Fall 2010 Fashion Trends
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in NYC. It's crazy. It's wild. It's fabulous. It's chaos. It's non-stop. It's utterly amazing. I have to say, in all of it's mass-fashion-chaos... I find peace and calm in it all. To me, it's the best place on earth to be if you're a fashion-lover.
The beauty of Fashion Week is that every designer unveils their Collection for the next upcoming season. So here "we" all are... watching FALL 2010 grace the runways. It's actually kind of crazy to walk into the tents, after passing by J. Crew and seeing their whole Spring line in the windows. But I'll tell you what, it totally gets you in the mood for Fall - not to mention, with the temperatures the way they are right now - I wish these clothes were in the stores NOW.
This year I truly felt like a mother at Fashion Week. I was all set to head to NYC on Saturday, February 13th... but my youngest son started to get sick. Sick with a 103 temperature and throwing up. As any mom can understand, I just couldn't leave him. His little eyes had me, and so I spent the next 2 full days with him on my lap while I read and watched (on my laptop) all the amazingness going on under the tents. The cool thing is that the designers now know they HAVE to incorporate social media into their shows - traditional media just doesn't cut it on its own anymore. So it was FABULOUS to watch LIVE feeds from the runways... see instant Facebook updates... and get Twitter messages with the latest trends/styles that were gracing the runways. Times have changed, and it's pretty amazing to now see that you don't even need to physically "be there" to see the shows (which was good for me).
But... I did get to NYC on Monday (15th) and Tuesday (16th) and just had a BLAST! I packed my days full with shows, so I could feel and see and "touch" the fashion energy. Even in frigid temps... the fashion-packs come out to play! My 2 favorite shows were Jill Stuart and Donna Karan. They were my favorite because I really felt that they were MOM-ABLE. Here I am, reporting fashion advice for moms... and being the mom fashion voice, so the fashions coming down the runway - they mean nothing to me if they don't seem "translatable" to a mom. My litmus test? Can you change a diaper in it?
I recapped my Monday and included clips of my 2 FAVORITE SHOWS!
More on my trends for Fall 2010 coming soon!
