Give 'em the Bold Shoulder!
I’ll admit that I’ve done it. Several times. I’m willing to bet that you’ve done it, too. I’m talking about standing in front of the mirror, adjusting various parts of your body, trying out different stances to see what body parts are the most appealing in a variety of poses and clothing. Go on, I know you’re giggling at the idea because a) the mental image is quite funny and b) you know all too well what I’m talking about. While it might sound a bit silly, knowing your strongest physical features helps you to dress your best to accentuate and highlight your body – no matter what the shape.
If you are looking to create a sexy silhouette, but don’t feel comfortable in strapless or backless, try latching on to the hot one-shoulder trend. Bare shoulders are very sensual, and this look still leaves lots to the imagination. The look has been everywhere this year, and celebrities have really taken a liking to it. Check out some examples of celebs who have artfully pulled off giving us the "bold shoulder"!
Laura Linney wearing a gorgeous grecian-inspired one shoulder gown (and seriously, how many people can pull off that color?!)
Blake Lively wearing a form-fitting fushia one-shoulder dress at the Late Show with David Letterman.
Jane Krakowski looks stunning in this white one-shouldered number - making me sad that this is my last week to wear white!
If you want to give this look a try because you want to show off your incredibly buff arms, choose a one-shouldered top with an embellishment or ruffles at the top. It will draw the eye upward to your arms and to the unique neckline of your top or dress. This also works to draw the eye away from other areas that you might not be so fond of, like a post-baby tummy. This is a fantastic trend that looks great on almost any body type, so give it a try - you won't be disappointed with the end result!
