Oscars Fashion Recap
The 82nd Annual Academy Awards were last night - otherwise known as THE OSCARS!
I have always loved watching the Oscars. There's something about the excitement, the anticipation, the glamour of Hollywood, the "who's who" and (of course) the FASHION. It seems that the fashion-sense of the Oscars plays more of a role than anything else.
I'll admit it... I'm one of those people that gets more excited about the red carpet fashions than I do about the actual awards show. As soon as it turned 6:30PM (EST) last night, I was glued to E! Entertainment to see all the glitz and all the glam!
So... I predicted some Oscar Fashions last week for some of my favorite Oscar nominated moms - now let's reveal what and whom they actually wore!
Meryl Streep (nominated for Best Actress in Julie and Julia) wore a gorgeous white gown by Project Runway (season 4) Alum Chris March.
I have to say, I love this dress on her! The plunging neckline, the tie-front waist, it's absolutely beautiful. It truly is that "Oscar" dress - elegant, classic and polished.
Maggie Gyllenhaal (nominated for Best Supporting Actress in Crazy Heart) wore a colorful and passionate dress by Karl Lagerfeld.
I'm not a fan of prints for the red carpet... but when I saw this dress on Maggie, I loved it! She's young. She's a free spirit. She's got that something-something. Not many actresses could get away with this look on the red carpet, but I truly think she pulled it off beautifully. And who would ever think she has a 3-year-old daughter? Look at her body! She definitely added some boldness and vitality to the red carpet.
Mo'Nique (WINNER for Best Supporting Actress in Precious) dazzled in a blue gown by Tom and Linda Platt.
I haven't heard the "best" reviews about Mo'Nique's choice of gown for the evening. What I loved about it was that it fit her well and the color was stunning for her. The most important thing about an Oscar dress is to be able to wear it well, have it be comfortable (you're in it for hours and hours and hours) and that it pops. Well, this dress "popped" for me. But this is what I loved most about Mo'Nique's dress (as quoted by her in regards to her designers, Tom and Linda Platt), "You don't know them. They're not well known. But when nobody knew or cared who Mo'Nique was, back in my Apollo days, I had someone who was looking for a designer for me. They took me on and made fabulous gowns for me. We've been together nine years, and I sure wouldn't take this big opportunity for them and wear some other designers' clothes. I want to give them this night. They deserve it."
Tina Fey (presenter) wore something that wasn't too far off from what I predicted (I would like to say we "talked" before the awards, but we didn't) in wearing a gorgeous black one-shoulder Michael Kors gown.
Being funny, is sexy. Plain and simple. I love that Tina Fey went a little out of her "comfort zone" in making this incredible decision to wear this dress. She looked stunning and sophisticated and just exuded elegance. Amazing choice, Tina!
And for a little fun... there were 2 celebrity moms that graced the red carpet last night that I just ADORED. Their dresses were absolutely, positively GORGEOUS... drum roll, please -
Mariska Hargitay in Vera Wang and Sarah Jessica Parker in Chanel. OMG... they look breath-taking.
