Pamper Me Barbie: Products to Make You Feel Like a Princess
After a non-stop summer of chasing kids around amusement parks, spending long days by the pool, and outdoor parties and events, our skin and body are just begging us to slow down. One of my favorite things to do is to spend a lazy afternoon or evening having an "at home spa" experience. So, for all of those times when you can't go out to the spa, here are some awesome products that can help bring the spa in to you.
I love the Solevation - a durable bath mat that you place on the floor of your bathtub and simply shuffle around on while you shower. It has both a sand surface and a loofah surface, to rid your feet of dry skin and make them perfectly sandal ready. I just recently started using mine daily - it makes such a huge difference, and makes me more confident in baring my "soles." It is especially perfect for summer and fall, when my feet are paying the price of wearing flip-flops and sandals every day.
Try a moisturizing face mask to replenish some of the moisture that the sun has stripped from your skin. The quintessential at-home spa product, you'll feel relaxed as soon as you smooth it on. I love the Olive Tree Organic Moisturizing Face Mask from L'Occtaine en Provence. For a DIY solution, try mixing brown sugar with olive oil until you get a runny paste, then gently massage onto your face in small circles for no longer than a minute. It will exfoliate and moisturize - and your face will feel fantastic when you rinse it off.
Your nails will thank you if you pick up some Dior Creme Abricot Fortifying Cream. This awesome product has had a cult following since the 70's, and to use it you simply massage it into the base of your nails right before or after a manicure. Use it on a regular basis and you'll notice better growth and increased nail strength.
Don't forget to treat your hair to a spa day as well -- try slathering your hair in a deep conditioning mask and wrapping it in a warm, damp towel for 20 minutes to get an intensive conditioning experience. My personal favorite is the Kerastase Oleo-Relax Smoothing Mask - I love the way my hair feels after I use it. Alternately, grab a bottle of this awesome Moroccan Oil (WHICH OIL? THERE’S NO LINK OR ANYTHING), and gently heat it by submerging the bottle in hot water for 5 minutes. Apply it to your wet hair before shampooing, and stand in the steamy shower for 5 minutes while it works its magic.
Those are my favorite at-home spa treatments. What are your tips, tricks, and favorite at-home spa products? Share them with us in the comments below!
