Project Runway Finale is Thursday!
And then there were three. Irina. Althea. Carol Hannah.
I have been watching Project Runway on Lifetime all season long. I actually have a special Friday night showing. Thursday nights are tough to catch the show for me, so I DVR it... and then watch it Friday night, after I put the boys to bed. I haven't missed a Friday night.
Project Runway 6 has been my favorite season so far. OK... OK... partially because I got to meet the cast in September. They were the nicest, most gracious, most kind men and women in the world. You could tell they loved the craft of creating. Each person's outfit that night was a pure reflection of their personality... and after watching 12 episodes, you do realize you're getting bite-size pieces of their personality. That portion of the show can't be faked, can't be altered and can't be edited in... this is them, true and true.
From the very beginning... I pegged Carol Hannah as winning.
There was something about her that just "jumped" out at me. She was fresh. She was open. And I simply wanted to wear her clothes. After all, isn't that what it's all about? You want to wear what someone creates... and feel and look beautiful. I felt she did that, throughout the whole season. So seeing her in the final 3, I'm beyond excited for her.
That was genius and creative and just finalist material. As much as her personality has bothered me... what I love about her is that she's hungry. She's hungry to win. Hungry to succeed. Hungry to have women all over the world wear a garment by her. There's something special about seeing that in her eyes... and seeing that reflected through her hands.
Althea is just downright cool.
Her fashions to me were always cutting edge. She never, ever played it safe - not once. I admired that about her... she wanted to see how far she could push herself each week, and I respected her for that. What was even better, she has created some amazing looks throughout the last 12 weeks. My favorite was her Saint Tropez look from week 10. I loved the lightness and beauty and simplicity of this sexy outfit. Honestly, if I could find that sheer top in a store right now, I would buy it. She was never afraid to play with some color and different kinds of fabric.
Like I said at the beginning of Project Runway... anyone who can conceive an idea, sketch it and then create it... it's mind-boggling to me. I love fashion. It's all I think about sometimes. But I just don't have that talent to think, draw and create. It's not within me... but for these final 3 ladies, it's in their mind, body and soul.
Fashion Week is their next stop, and what better place to debut your love and passion. Ladies... I hate to pick a "winner" at this point - but if I had to project a winner, I'd stick with my girl Carol Hannah!
