Random Acts of Kindness...
Four days after Christmas we took the boys to a local diner for breakfast. It was one of those times when the boys just didn't want to be still in the booth. Spoons were dropping. A milk spilled across the table. There were jelly fights. Benjamin didn't want to eat his breakfast. Henry wanted to wash his hands about 5 times. It was just one of those times where I looked at Matt and was like, "Should we leave?"
I couldn't help but be worried about the people around us. Nobody gave us any looks... but I felt so embarrassed.
When the waitress came over to drop off our bill, she whispered to me and my husband, "Someone in the restaurant asked to put $20 down on your check, so that's why I subtracted $20 from the total."
We were speechless.
We asked the waitress who it was so we could go thank them, but she said that the person didn't want to be revealed. She said that the person had said that they remember having small kids, and even though it can be challenging... these are precious times. Also, our family reminded her of hers from years ago...
So it was a woman.
It was one of those moments where I was so blown away by a stranger's kindness, I thought I was going to cry.
It inspired me to do the same... this was my Facebook status from December 29th, 2010.
So pay it forward...
Do a random act of kindness. Someone will remember it forever...
