Smooth Legs Are Better Than Hairy, Right?
My husband would cringe if he knew I was writing this post.
I mean, cringe. LOL...
I have a secret, and it's kind of a gross secret.
In the winter, I shave my legs (maybe) once a month.
I wish I could think of some incredibly good excuse as to my lack of winter shaving, but the best I can give you is this (in 100% random order):
Yup, that's right. I'm totally blaming my work and my sons.
But in all honesty, I'm usually on the go like a crazy lady at all times, so anything that I can skip to save me time (in my beauty regimen) is something I take advantage of as much as possible. I'm not kidding when I say that it sometimes takes me about 15 minutes to shave my legs. I like to take my time and make sure I get every speck of hair off of them. So my thought process in the winter is -- who sees my legs other than me and my husband (although, I'm sure he'd like smooth legs year-round!) LOL...
So basically, I hold off on shaving for a few weeks at a time. Fortunately that works in the winter, but not in the summer.
It does not work at all.
Let me break it down like this, I'm Portuguese. Which - for me - means I could potentially be shaving my legs every other day... no joke. If you know me in real life, you know what I mean!
So as soon as April starts to creep in, I also know it's time to start thinking of my legs. The hiatus that they get from December through March has come to an end. It's time to get them back into action and (oh, yes) shape!
There are really 5 things that motivate me to get my legs back into shaving:
1. Public swimming pools - oh, yes... I do not want to scare any small children.
2. My own sons! Believe it or not, yes... my oldest son is old enough now to potentially ask/beg/plead for me to shave my legs.
3. I do want nice looking smooth legs for shorts, skirts, dresses and bathing suits.
4. My husband. Oh, yes... sexy smooth legs are a good thing, right?
5. I'll admit - they do feel better once they're shaved.
But the more and more I talk to other moms about shaving and what they do on the shaving front, the more I know I'm not alone.
Lets face it, shaving your legs takes time (and it's not like we all have this extra time in our day!). You can't (and don't want to) rush through it or you could cut yourself. I mean... cut yourself. Not good! Shaving is also something that you want to have the perfect tools for. It never ceases to amaze me how many of my mom friends know the exact kind of razor they use on their legs. It's almost like an emotional thing, they know what works best for them and they do not want to "cheat" on their razor.
I absolutely have my shaving must-haves throughout the summer, fully stocked and loaded at all times.
And yes, I use them religiously throughout the summer, even on mornings/nights I need to be in and out... I do take the time to shave.
Which, I'm happy to say... makes my husband VERY happy. :)
