Bloggers are the New Black and a Moto Look for Moms
Can I start off today’s post by saying that I was SHOCKED by who got eliminated this week on “Project Runway All Stars”? Thanks. I just had to get that off my chest. So, the latest All Stars challenge was right up this girl’s alley. The clients were BLOGGERS! Each designer was paired with a blogger who was both their muse and and their model. Their task was to create the next big trend for 2014 using the Pantone color of the year, radiant orchid, somewhere in their design. What I loved most about this challenge was how excited the designers were to work with bloggers. They really recognized how much influence bloggers wield in today’s world.
Now that the end is near, the drama was at an all time low. There were some snide comments from Elena about people ripping off her beloved neoprene and the other designers, in turn, groaned about the noise coming from her work station, but that was it. The episode was much less about drama and way more about design…And some lovely designs there were. Although, I was kind of surprised that they didn’t take it a step or two further with their trend predictions.
For instance, Seth Aaron and Viktor boldly recycled trends. Seth Aaron sent a very well put together scuba dress down the runway. I have a similar look hanging in my closet right now. That doesn’t mean I wouldn’t love to have his saucy dress hanging next to it, I’m just not sure that it’s very innovative and the judges weren’t sold on it either.
As far as Viktor Luna goes, the king of jackets created yet another leather beauty. The judges weren’t as impressed with it as I was, but Viktor, if you’re reading this…you can send that baby my way any day! I did agree with their criticism that the proportions were off in his look though. The slouchy moto jacket didn’t work with the fifties silhouette frock. In no way, did I think it was the losing look however. Christopher missed the mark more with his olive lace coat dress and orchid clutch, in my opinion, but I digress…
I know that the moto trend is very now and not necessarily forward thinking, but I still love it, so I’m paying homage to Viktor and using his look as my inspiration for this week’s outfit! Even though Korto definitely deserved to win with her killer sleeveless pantsuit, my heart’s with Viktor!
Now, when I’m rockin’ my moto pieces, I certainly don’t want to look like this youthful trend is better left to those younger than myself, so concealer is most necessary when trying to carry off a trend like this. Actually, for us tired mamas, concealer is necessary every day. Ha! Try applying a natural looking concealer like Mary Kay’s with the Mary Kay® Cream Eye Color/Concealer Brush for a precise application! Your undereye circles will thank you!
