Flattering Fitness Wear for Moms
I don’t know about you mamas, but fitting workouts into my day has become much harder since I had my precious cherubs. I’ve found it be especially difficult now that our second bambino has joined the family. My son used to let me put him in his highchair and play with some toys while I knocked out an exercise DVD, but my daughter isn’t having any of that. She’s on the move ALL the time. Haha!
So, my solution has been to work out in the morning before I take my lil’ dude to school, or camp as it’s summer now, and before my lil’ lady bean wakes up. If you know me in real life, you know that this is not my ideal scenario. Before I had my kids, I was always the exercise after work kinda girl…not the get up at the butt crack of dawn kinda girl, but I digress…Now I have to bite the bullet and get up early. I’m not going to lie, sometimes that just doesn’t happen and instead we go for a family walk in the evening or something…but that’s ok right? It’s all about making time to get some form of exercise in and not beating yourself up when your fitness plans go awry, which is a distinct possibility when you have little ones.
Since morning workouts have become more of the norm for me, I decided it was time to invest in some fitness apparel that could be seen out of the house. If Tim Gunn is reading this right now I know he’s shaking his head. Haha! Don’t worry Mr. Gunn, I’m not going to dinner in my yoga pants, but sometimes I do have to head to school drop off in them. So, if you are going to be out in public and you don’t have time to change after your work out, make sure you’re rockin’ some flattering gear!
A top that has a little movement to it, but isn’t oversized is the ideal piece for those of us who are still working on the old abs. I don’t know whether I love this black Gap number or Old Navy’s Bougainvillea colored version more!
I prefer workout pants that are cropped right below the knee. As hot as it is here in Florida right now, I just can’t rock full length pants and that in between, capri length can be tough to carry off, especially for us height challenged girls! Just sayin’. I’m loving the piping on this Old Navy pair. And the bright Gap beauties are so cheerful!
If you don’t feel comfortable dropping off your kiddo in your workout top, throw a cute hoodie on over it! Athleta has some killer options. This breathable hoodie would totally be at home at the beach too. I’m all about pieces that are great multi-taskers!
So, who’s ready to go sweat and look cute doing it?!?
