From Runway to Reality: 4 Fall Fashion Trends You Can Afford
My bikinis and cover ups alike have been packed up and stored for a mere 24 hours and I have already found myself salivating over the fall 2012 trends.
As I now gear up for some retail therapy and start to re review the runway shows online while flipping through the infamous 500 page September issues of Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Elle I realize that:
1.) I can’t afford any of the crap (albeit, gorgeous crap) they feature.
2.) Neither can anyone else (well – any other NORMAL folks).
HOWEVER, I can always find the look for less. Below are four current fall trends born on the runway but ready, available and affordable for your (and my) reality. Happy shopping!
Animal Instinct: Novelty Knitwear
There is nothing better than ringing in the fall season with pumpkins, cider, donuts (fresh ones, duh)… and a new sweater. Each fall I invest in a few special knits or as I consider them a wardrobe staple. There was an abundance of novelty knitwear on the runways, much of it with animal designs and motifs. From sheep to birds to owls (and you thoughts you couldn’t get away from Old MacDonald’s farm for JUST ONE second), this trend is unavoidable.

Too Bootilcious: The Bootie
The booty. It’s the work to night, the day to office and the drinks to dancing kind of boot. The booties this fall are constructed with a “safe” heel; safe meaning you won’t break your neck coming down the stairs. While Rag and Bone has set the stage for this stellar silhouette, other brands have followed suit. Pair them back to skinny denim or a dress for a killer fall look!
ASOS bootie, $86
Bobbing For Baubles: Costume Jewelry
I adore fashion jewelry. I can never get enough of novel necklaces and bracelets. Fashion jewelry is cheap, cheerful and brings instant gratification to a day of mommy madness. Layer your gems on top of each other on as the day goes on and a glass of Pinot Noir near. The best part about these affordable jewels is when your baby teethes on them or your toddler breaks them mid tantrum you will not have to spend next month’s rent to replace them!
Zara necklace, $29.95
Printed Matter: Printed Denim
A woman can never have too many jeans in her closet. I for one live in denim and I have a range of sizes on hand depending on how bloated I am from my earlier Chinese food sodium binge. For fall try an animal print or even better a bold floral print. Yes, florals are fabulous even for fall.
Forever 21 Jeans, $24.80
So what are you waiting for with these four fall trends. Get out, get spending and start saving NOW. There is so much to buy and so little to spend. HOW FABU!
