Knocked Up on New Year's Eve: How To Feel Glam
So, you're pregnant and contemplating whether to make a big to do out of New Year's Eve this year. I say go for it! Just because you look like you're smuggling a bowling bowl (and perhaps feel like it too) doesn't mean you can't get all dolled up, look fabulous and have a blast ringing in 2013.
Step one. Find yourself a chic, yet comfortable dress. Whether you're going out to dinner or celebrating at home, you don't want to be tugging on your dress all night. I recommend looking for a frock in a stretchy fabric like jersey for ultimate comfort. I was a big fan of the classic little black dress the first time I was pregnant and that hasn't changed this time around. I tend to be clumsy when I'm not expecting and when I am...Forget about it! Black dresses work wonders for hiding stains. I rarely make it through a meal without spilling on myself. Am I alone?
Now, let's talk accessories. Before that precious little bundle of joy comes along, wear the heck out of long, dangly earrings. Once your wee one learns to grab, you don't want to have to worry about losing an earlobe. I always enjoy a nice pair of swingy chandelier earrings. They dress up an LBD perfectly!
As far as shoes go...the sparkly the better in my opinion. Even if sparkle isn't your thing year round, New Year's Eve is the perfect time to bust it out! I know that heels might not sound that appealing when you're in the family way, but they sure do make you feel like a woman. And a sexy woman at that! Trust me. You can slip them off the second you get home. Or you can do what the hubs and I do and plan a fancy dinner at home. Then you can ditch your foot candy whenever you feel like it.
I hope you're now on your way to being a glam goddess this New Year's Eve. And don't forget to indulge in a mocktail or two. I know you bubbly lovers might be missing your champers, but there are some delicious virgin cocktails out there that taste just as good as the real stuff…almost. Non-alcoholic sparkling peach juice is a lovely alternative! Cheers!
