Makin’ It Into Marie Claire & a Chic Cognac Look
If you could have been a fly on my wall last night while I watched “Project Runway”, you would have heard a LOT of yelling. As so often happens, some eliminated designers were brought back to assist the remaining designers with their looks and as much as I haven’t always loved Patricia’s designs, I felt for her when she was paired with Richard again. They had JUST unsuccessfully worked together and to have to try to relate to each other right away again must have been R-O-U-G-H!
For this challenge, the designers were asked to create an editorial look that would be featured in Marie Claire. Nina very clearly stated her expectations for the challenge and a tee and trousers combo were definitely on her “don’t” list. Unfortunately, Michelle chose to ignore her wishes and set to work on just that. My compassion for Patricia quickly fell by the wayside when I started to worry about Michelle.
I have to say that I absolutely loved the top and pants that Michelle created. I would wear them in a heartbeat. And logically I know that wasn’t the point of the challenge, but her look was so fabulous that I could see past the fact that it might not photograph well. Unfortunately for her, the judges couldn’t look past it.
I wasn’t surprised when Stanley took the win for his gorgeous culottes and jacket, but I was SHOCKED when it looked like Michelle was going to go home for her disregard of the challenge’s rules. I mean the judges usually take into account how strong the designer was in previous challenges and they’ve loved the majority of what Michelle has put in front of them.
Thankfully, we found out at the end of the episode that Michelle will have another shot at sticking around. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with. Come on Michelle…I want to see you show at fashion week! Who’s with me?
Although, I loved what Michelle designed, I was into Stanley’s look a bit more, so I used it as inspiration for this week’s outfit. Cognac and white is such a chic color combination! I do have to say that I didn’t so much enjoy the way Stanley “managed” his helper Tu. When someone is trying to help you, kindness goes a long way. Just sayin’. Props to Tu. I certainly wouldn’t have worked well under those conditions, but I digress…
