Mission Animation and a Little Red Dress for Moms
Remember when that fella who’s used to being on top in “Project Runway” challenges ended up in the bottom on All Stars last week? Well, the angst definitely carried over to this week’s episode. Viktor did not take kindly to landing in the bottom, while his partner, Christopher, ended up on top. As fun as those two have been to watch, seeing them estranged was rather sad. I quite enjoy their banter and hope they get back to the way they were at some point, but I digress…
This week’s challenge involved one of television’s most popular television shows of all time. The Simpsons is celebrating twenty-five years of comedy and in celebration of that, the designers were asked to create a sexy date night look for its leading lady Marge. I’m not sure sexy is the first thing I think of when I see Marge, so I can see why some of the designers struggled with this one. But then again, all of us mamas still want to vamp it up every now and again right? Marge deserves a hot night out too!
With Viktor and Christopher on the outs, the usual comic relief wasn’t there. While, the work room was a whole lot quieter, it certainly wasn’t as fun to watch. And it definitely wasn’t fun to see Seth Aaron create dress after dress only to end up throwing something together a couple hours before it was time to hit the runway. I just felt plain bad for him and Jeffrey. They seemed so lost. I keep waiting for the Jeffrey that I loved watching years ago to reappear. I know he’s in there somewhere!
Christopher didn’t seem to be himself this week either. The freeze out from Viktor definitely didn’t help his morale and I’m not sure why he decided on a fifties housewife reference for his design. The floral printed dress he created was cute, but not exactly sexy.
Elena, on the other hand, had no problem with sexy. Her red gown was simply smokin’. The gorgeous back instantly made me want to log in some serious hours at the gym. Le sigh. And I would totally rock that jacket, I’m just not so sure I would wear them together. That dress deserved to shine on its own! I was surprised it didn’t take the win actually…but Irina’s floaty little plum number was darling too. I can’t wait to see Marge in it!
As cute as the winning dress was, I decided to use Elena’s as inspiration for this week’s outfit. I do really love the idea of rockin’ a fierce jacket with a dress, so I found a simple, shorter dress. And even though the dress is bright red, I would love to see you rock a bold red lip with it. I love Mary Kay’s Really Red. And Mary Kay’s TimeWise ®Age-Fighting Lip Primer is the perfect first step toward said bold lip because it helps prevent feathering and bleeding! The last thing you want is red smudged all over your face…Am I right?
