That’s a Wrap and a Bright Look for Moms
Well, it’s over. The final episode of this season of “Project Runway All Stars” has aired and we officially have a winner! Can you believe it? Neither can I. I say this every season, but it feels like I watched the first episode just yesterday. Le sigh. I’m always sad when a PR season ends, but this one is particularly bittersweet for me for many reasons. One major reason being that this group of designers was just so full of talent. It is such a letdown to think I won’t get to see them create any more works of art each Thursday. At least each and every finalist put their all into their last collections…But before we get to the runway show, let’s talk about what led up to it.
At the start of the show, the designers found out they had to design a six piece collection in just four days. That is certainly a far cry from the amount of time they normally get in “Project Runway”, but that’s why it’s All Stars baby! At least they had the help of Christopher, Viktor and Jeffery for twenty-four hours.
For their inspiration, the designers had to draw from their heritage and as such, they met with the delegate from their country at the United Nations , their runway show venue. Considering they hail from Ukraine, Spain and Liberia, it was no surprise when some very bold designs walked the runway…And that included a seventh look featuring a global print Theodora and Callum scarf. Yes, I said seventh look. Of course, there had to be a twist! They had to design a seventh look using a T&C scarf that was in line with their collection. Seth Aaron and Korto took the news in stride, but Elena, being no fan of prints, had, what else…a meltdown. Luckily, she had Viktor to talk her off the ledge and she ended up choosing a lovely scarf that she used to create a darling dress.
Speaking of Elena, as popular as she was with the judges this season, I was surprised when they eliminated her collection from the running almost immediately. Said collection consisted of laser cut dresses, boxy tops and leather. While I definitely saw a few pieces that I would gladly rock, I agree that it was not the winning collection. The judges definitely made the right call as to which designer WAS the winner…
While, many of Korto’s pieces were stunning, like her yellow printed maxi dress with the cut out back, for instance, it was hard to stand out when being judged next to Seth Aaron’s, nothing- short-of-amazing collection. His draped scarlet coat, yellow jumpsuit, embossed leather little white dress and little black dress with a cut-out back were some of my absolute favorite designs from the entire season! Who’s with me? I was elated for him when they announced that he was the winner! By the way, have you noticed how many times you’ve read about cut-outs in this post? Remember that for spring!
Since all of the designers used yellow in their final collections, I decided to use it in my last featured outfit too. Yellow denim is a fun playmate for a leopard print cardigan… And majorly amped up lashes would look fabulous with this flirty look as well! Mary Kay® Lash Love® Mascara in I ♥ Black is just the product to help you achieve fabulously feminine lashes!
