The Three L’s of Summer Style
Packing for a recent beach vacation, I came to the sad realization that I hate all of my summer clothing. Unfortunately, my dissatisfaction was not a new feeling; I typically feel bummed about my wardrobe at the start of each new season.
Rather than splurging on a closetful worth of clothing when the thermometer jumps, I seek out ways to incorporate a couple of new trends into last year’s wardrobe. This summer I have my eye on three sizzling styles: leather, lace, and Lucite.
Wearing leather in summer may seem counter-intuitive, but in small doses, leather (or faux leather) will make you look hot – not feel hot.
Laser cutouts and punchy colors take lace from granny to gorgeous. On lapels and shoes, crochet accents lend a carefree touch to the simplest ensembles.
Give your most ladylike outfits some edge with Lucite shoes, bags, and jewelry. Warning: Lucite has the tendency to go from trendy to tacky quickly, so wear transparent accessories in moderation.
What do you think of the three L’s of summer style? Could you see yourself wearing any of these trends?
