Are Kim and Kanye Really “Amazing” Parents?
It’s been just a couple of weeks since Kim Kardashian gave birth to daughter North West and already she and boyfriend Kanye West are absolutely incredible parents. Or at least that’s what reports from her insiders would have us all believe.
Longtime friend and Pussycat Dolls founder Robin Antin tells US Magazine that she saw Kim holding the baby and she’s “a natural.” And Kim’s other close friend Lisa Gastineau told E! that Kim’s doing "amazing" as a new mom, adding that, "She's very chill and nothing bothers her. She just rolls with it. You would think that she'd be all uptight, but she is the easiest person."
Uh-huh. Pull this leg and it plays “Jingle Bells.” But honestly---did we really expect to hear anything different about two people whose PR machines constantly tell us how they’re superior to the rest of us in every way, shape and form?
What bothers me about statements that say Kim is an “amazing” new mom is how it sets the rest of us up to feel like jerks when we’re struggling post-partum. I mean, I loved my two sons like crazy the first two weeks of their lives, but was I an “amazing” mother? No, I was probably more of a “completely freaked out” mother because the reality is it’s not easy. Why do we have to hear that Kim and Kanye are far more capable than everyone else on the planet?
Also, nobody's saying so, but maybe the reason Kim’s so “chill” is because she has a baby nurse and full-staff at her mom’s mansion. Of course there have been no actual reports that she has a baby nurse, but I bet my life savings and collection of used pacifiers that she does. I know I would if I had her money.
But of course none of Kim’s friends are going to give a realistic report of the situation. Like one of them would really tell the media that Kim hasn’t showered in two weeks, that she’s crying from the pain of nursing and that sometimes she gets pissed off because Kanye reportedly won’t won’t change a diaper? Nope, not going to happen. Kim and Kanye are already better parents than the rest of us.
And to me, that’s the most “amazing” thing of all.
