Bueno or No Bueno? Gwyneth Paltrow Makes Her Kids Speak Only in Spanish
Muy buena idea or no muy buena idea?
Let me start off by saying that many people (and yes, this may include myself sometimes) have a natural tendency to roll their eyes at well…everything Gwyneth Paltrow says and does. In my case, I jthink I’m just jealous that perfection seems to come so easily to her. So when I read recently that Gwynnie makes her children speak only in Spanish in an attempt to make them well-rounded and worldly, I snorted. I mean, why can’t they learn to be bilingual the old fashioned way – by watching “Dora the Explorer”?
While at Cameron Diaz's Beverly Hills home for the wedding of Diaz's assistant, the “Iron Man” 3 star urged her children to put their language skills to use. "Gwyneth reminded them through the party," a witness disclosed.
"At one point," the onlooker said, "Apple came to her table and asked, in Spanish, if she could sit on her lap!"
Once I got over the “hanging out with Cameron Diaz” thing, I realized that Gwyneth could be on to something.
She wants to give her kids the best opportunities to succeed in life, and one way she thinks that will happen is if they know how to speak foreign languages. In fact, more and more parents are teaching their kids to be bilingual, and of course, this often involves communicating with your child in the second language. She just wants what she thinks is best for them.
Can’t roll my eyes at her for that.
