Kristen Bell Didn’t Bond With Her Baby During Pregnancy. And That’s Ok!
Kristen Bell didn't feel connected to her baby girl, Lincoln, during her pregnancy and recently admitted in an interview with Flare magazine that she only began to bond with her after giving birth.
"I kept saying to Dax in all sincerity during my pregnancy, 'I just don't know how I'm going to like her as much as I like the dogs.' I was being serious," Bell confesses to the magazine. "Because I f--king love my dogs; they are my children."
The actress added: "I love people the more I know them, and I didn't know her. It could've been a water bottle in my belly, that's about how connected I felt to her during my pregnancy. But within about 24 hours after she came out, my hormones reset, and they reprogrammed my feelings about her."
I think it’s refreshingly honest for her to admit this – I feel like it’s pretty common and yet women don’t talk about it because they think it makes them a bad mom. For some, the bond begins when they find out the minute they are pregnant, for others it starts when they find out the sex of their baby and for others it begins after birth. And that’s ok!
Bell and Shepard wed last month in a very simple ceremony at the Beverly Hills County Clerk's Office after six years of dating. The couple got engaged in 2009, but vowed not to marry until same-sex marriage bans were overturned.
Earlier this month, Bell told Us Weekly that married life is "wonderfully the same." When asked about baby Lincoln's latest milestones, she joked, "She's still a blob!" Again, love the honesty!
Did you bond instantly with your little one while they were still in your belly? Or did it take some time before your motherly instincts kicked in?
