Melissa McCarthy Fires Extra for Mistreating Child On Set
Funny lady Melissa McCarthy wasn’t laughing when she recently fired an extra from the set of “Tammy”, a new comedy she's co-directing with husband Ben Falcone.
The extra, a woman described as being in her 20s, had brought along her preschool-aged child to the day-long shoot and had been having a tough time getting the little one to behave.
TMZ reports, "Witnesses say the young mom had been struggling with her kid all morning, constantly harping on the child to "stop it" and quiet down". Enough to disrupt the production.
But things really came to a head when McCarthy saw the mom jerk the child in the air by the wrist. The “Bridesmaids” star (and mom to two young daughters) is said to have reacted immediately by having her removed from the shoot. McCarthy then told production staff she does not tolerate abuse on her sets.
Did the actress overreact? Tough call to make. I know I can’t even get my own two kids to behave for an hour or two in a restaurant, so I can’t image what they’d be like at an all-day shoot. And while it’s tough to find affordable child care, the young mom’s first mistake was probably bringing the kid along in the first place.
What do you think? Did Melissa McCarthy do the right thing?
