Joy Phenix
About Me:
I've been a salesperson in the cable television industry for over (cough!) twenty-five years. I have logged a couple million flight miles and lost my share of bags. I've loved my career, but the biggest part of me is defined by the people who love me: my kids, husband, siblings, parents, and God. This means that I can build legos with my son or rock Just Dance with my daughter like a champ. Date nights and sneak-away trips with my stellar husband replenish me. Visits with my California family fuel me and I am humbled by the chance to serve at my church. I am passionate about mentoring, developing a creative approach to (almost) everything, and finding adventure even in the daily routines. If you follow me around (or read about my life on www.joyphenix.com ) you will notice that I have yellow dog hair on everything black and that my purse rarely matches my shoes. I should be British since I'll drop everything for a good cup of tea and a chance to catch up with a friend.
Q&A’s:
Q: How many children do you have?
A: I have a 9-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son. I also have a 9-month-old, yellow Lab puppy who is more work than both of my kids combined!
Q: Where do you live? (were you born there or how did you end up there?)
A: I grew up, went to college and business school in Southern California. I transferred to Atlanta seventeen years ago for work. This is the city where I learned the meaning of "seasons" and the fine art of hospitality. I was only planning on staying through the summer Olympics in 1996, but then I met my husband and my plans changed (in a good way!). The rest of my family is still in California, so we make the cross-country trek as frequently as possible.
Q: What’s your astrological sign?
A: I'm a Libra, but I really have no idea what that means. I'm much more likely to talk about my Myers-Briggs classification (ENFP)!!
Q: If your life was made into a Lifetime Movie, what would it be called?
A: The Pastor's Wife (not because of the plot line, but because of my husband's career!!)
Q: What is one of your favorite quotes?
A: My favorite expression is a proverb that is both practical and concise! "Wisdom is supreme, therefore, get wisdom."
Q: What TV or movie character are you most like?
A: Umm — if Liz Lemon was married to a pastor and had a couple kids, she'd be pretty close.
Q: If you could have dinner with three famous people (dead or alive), who would you invite?
A: Three alive ones. (kidding) ... (1) Julia Child - preferably I'd have her cook the dinner we would be sharing. (2) C.S. Lewis – I'd want to meet him for some pub food in England. (3) Michelangelo – a nice Italian dinner in Florence perhaps!
Q: What is your biggest vice?
A: Is eating a vice? I'm waaaay too driven by lovely, tasty food. Carbohydrates in any of their glorious forms are my particular "drug of choice."
Q: What makes you feel sexy?
A: Anything that stops my husband in his tracks – a new haircut, a perfectly assembled outfit (which is not a given with me!), and great shoes!
Q: What’s your most memorable ballsy moment?
A: That's a tricky question for me because, people tell me that I tend to live my life on the ballsy end of the scale and I don't even realize it. Hmmm. There was that time that I bungee jumped off a bridge in New Zealand.
