I am a country girl at heart, having been born and raised on a poultry farm in rural Virginia.  In 1989 I married my husband David and together we set out on the grand adventure that is our life.  Being a wife and mother are my two greatest joys in life.  My daughter, Melinda is 18 and in her first year of college.   My son, Christopher is 13 and is in the 8th grade.  I am a Christian preschool teacher working primarily with three year old children and am a certified lay speaker with the local United Methodist Church.  As part of my mission within the church, I serve on the board of directors at the local United Methodist Church Camp where I  spend two weeks every summer teaching Bible lessons  to campers.

Having dabbled in writing over the years, I accepted an invitation to become a featured writer for www.madamedeals.com over a year ago.  My weekly column Karla’s Korner has allowed me the opportunity to share my thoughts and ideas on everything from parenting, family relationships, food addiction from which I suffer and life in general.  Having been a guest writer for Lifetime Moms and screener for movies and television shows this past year, I now look forward to sharing my life as a parent of teenagers and a middle aged woman  facing real life issues with the readers of Lifetime Moms.  In my spare time I like to spend time with my family, watch movies, write and am an avid NASCAR fan.
