Shaina Olmanson
About Me:
I am the home cook and photographer behind Food for My Family and Olmanson Photography. I strive to teach my children to cook and prepare real food in a day and age where many people have turned to convenience foods because they are so readily available, and I hope to encourage others to do the same. I wholeheartedly believe that food is what connects people, as we all need food to survive. It is a part of our culture and our everyday life, and it can bring us together around the dinner table.
Q: How many children do you have?
A: I have four kids. My daughter Kiera is the oldest, and she just turned 11, which has the ability of making me feel like an old lady, even though I'm still in my twenties. My son Kjell looks just like his dad, except he has my eyes, and he also bears a striking resemblance to Harry Potter (it's the messy brown hair). Lene is my younger daughter, and she's quite a lot like me, only much more in your face, and finally, my youngest little man is Magnus.
Q: Where do you live and how did you end up there?
A: The night I was born there was this terrible tornado that ripped up a huge area of the city. It completely destroyed Har Mar Mall, and it also brought about the beginnings of Best Buy. I live right where the tornado hit the day I was born. It was meant to be.
Q: What’s your astrological sign?
A: I'm a Gemini.
Q: If your life was made into a Lifetime Movie, what would it be called?
A: “Mom, Interrupted.”
Q: What is one of your favorite quotes?
A: “Education is the ability to listen to almost anything without losing your temper or your self-confidence.” –Robert Frost
Q: What TV or movie character are you most like?
A: Just about any character played by Aubrey Plaza. It's the deadpan sarcasm we have in common.
Q: If you could have dinner with three famous people (dead or alive), who would you invite?
A: It depends. Where are we eating?
Q: What is your biggest vice?
A: Good ice cream, gelato or sorbet.
Q: What makes you feel sexy?
A: My husband's inability to stop staring at me when we're dressed up and out with friends or at an event.
Q: What’s your most memorable ballsy moment?
A: Quitting my job to pursue a new career (the new career being the one I'm currently doing).
Q: Fill in this blank: “I celebrate life by ____________.”
A: I celebrate life by living it.
