Stephanie Carroll
I was born and raised in Hampton County and attended Wade Hampton High School. I graduated from The University of South Carolina with a Bachelor's of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies in 1999. I married Doug in 1999 and we started trying to have a family in 2000. We had no idea how long our journey would be or what the future would hold. I worked as a Health Inspector with Environmental Health for 5 years and then became an Insurance Adjuster for 3 years. I left that in 2008 to pursue a Masters of Arts in Teaching Degree from The University of South Carolina and graduated April 2010, three weeks after our twins, Mason and Kendall were born.
I stayed home for a year with the twins and then decided to go back to work as a third grade teacher with Estill Elementary School. I soon found out that the impossible had happened. After years of infertility treatments and eventually adopting our babies we found out that we were pregnant the day after Mason and Kendall turned a year old. Matthew was born in December of 2011.
We are the proud parents of three amazing children and our life is chaotic but we would not have it any other way. We have so many family members around us to help out and love our kids as much as we do. We maintain a relationship with our birth mother, Jennie, and had an awesome adoption experience. I attended all of Jennie's doctor's appointments when she was pregnant with the twins and I was present in the delivery room when the babies were born. We met Jennie through our "soul-mate friends", Tracy and Darnell. It is amazing how much we have in common with them.
Watch Stephanie and her family on "The Week The Women Went" a new unscripted series which uncovers what happens when women leave town, leaving men behind to run their households. Airs Tuesdays at 10/9c on Lifetime.
