A Tip For the Gluten Free Traveler - Pack Your own Snacks!
I wanted to share a travel tip with you if you are gluten free. Pack your own gluten free snacks. I can't stress this tip enough. When you are gluten free you can not expect to find "decent" gluten free options when you are on the road, and when you do they are often very expensive. It is a dream of mine that one day I will leave my house and not have to carefully plan my day in advance around planning for my food needs. However, until that dream becomes a reality I will continue to pack my own snacks when I travel. It is a lesson that I have learned the hard way especially when flying. I always take a bag of goodies now whenever I leave my house.
I normally pack my gluten free snacks in a gallon size ziploc bag. This keeps my food contained and provides me a garbage bag at the same time. Most of the time I place the Ziploc bag in a small thermal tote and include water in the bottom of the bag. Some snack items that are my go to gluten free snacks include: Chobani Yogurt (perfect for breakfast), Surf Sweets, Snikiddy Snacks, KIND bars, Way Better Snacks and fresh fruit. If I am going on an all day trip I like to take Salami Rollups or hummus and gluten free crackers. I stick them in the freezer for a couple of hours and then pop them in the thermal tote. I also like to take a standard Peanut Butter or Almond Butter sandwich too.
I hope this gluten free snack tips helps you this summer when you find yourself on the go!
