Cheese & Bacon Quiche (Recipe)
This quiche recipe is super versatile. You can add almost anything to it, and it will still come out delicious. I typically make quiche when as a "refrigerator emptier". I will use up cheese and veggies that would otherwise end up in the trash.
The other great thing about quiche, it really can be served for any meal or as an appetizer.
To change up this recipe, try adding spinach, mushrooms or regular bacon. Just be sure to saute your meat or veggies before adding them to the quiche, it gives it a better flavor.
- 4 eggs, beat
- 3 slices of cooked Canadian Bacon, diced
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 clove of garlic, minced
- 3 tbsp of butter
- 1 cup half and half
- 8 oz of Shredded Cheddar Cheese
- 9 inch pie or pastry crust
- 1 teaspoon Parsley
- Salt & Pepper to Taste
- Dash of Nutmeg * optional
Preheat oven to 375 F. Prepare pie crust in 9 inch pie pan.
In a skillet, over medium heat, melt butter. Saute onions, garlic and Canadian bacon over medium heat until onions are translucent. (about 5-7 minutes)
In a large bowl, whisk together half and half and eggs, until smooth. Add 6 oz of cheese. Mix thoroughly. Add onions, garlic and Canadian bacon to mixture. Add parsley, nutmeg and salt and pepper to taste. Mix again.
Pour mixture into pie/pasty shell. Top with remaining cheese.
Bake at 375 for 45-55 minutes, until center is firm and set. The center should be puffy and golden.
Allow to cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
