Marcia Cross and Mott's Partner With KaBOOM! to Promote Healthy Lifestyles for Kids
I recently spoke to Marcia Cross about her role as spokesperson for Mott’s and their partnership with KaBOOM! On July 9, 2010 they built a playground for the LeRoy Haynes Center in La Verne, California to give children with learning disabilities, special emotional needs and those on the autism spectrum from the campus a place for physical activity and sensory experiences.
In this day and age of television and computers and video games, not only can it be challenging to get kids to enjoy the outdoors and to move their bodies, but access can be a huge issue. I had no idea that 60% of all kids and 70% of inner-city kids don’t have access to a playground, as Ms. Cross shared with me. This is why Mott’s and KaBOOM! have joined forces to promote healthy living and a healthy lifestyle as one that includes both a varied diet with fruits and vegetables and one that involves getting out of the house and getting some physical activity in.
As a mother of twins, Marcia Cross knows how important it is to fit both good nutrition and activity into each and every day for your kids, which is why her involvement with Mott's was a natural fit. Mott’s Medleys pack a full two servings of fruit and vegetables into every 8 ounces. It makes it a great way to sneak in a few vegetables when you've had a particularly bad day in the food deap with your kids. Ideally, whole fruits and vegetables are best, but we all know there are those days when the peace of mind that your kid is getting some nutrition from somewhere are glorious.
Marcia Cross' honesty about how hard it is to juggle and balance motherhood and a demanding career was refreshing. While she does have days where she is away from home, she is sure that the next day will be completely devoted to the girls so that they get thte face time from mom that they need. Still, she never feels completely at ease, which is something that most mothers struggle with to balance, but we all try to daily.
