Strawberries and Cream Smoothie for Breakfast
It's snowing today, but in Florida strawberry season is rounding the bend. Strawberries make me think of grass, rather than this white fluff that is sitting on the ground at the moment. Though, I won't complain. The white fluff will help water the strawberries as it thaws this spring, and soon, I'll be enjoying strawberries from my backyard.
Strawberries and cream is one of the first things I think of when I start dreaming of the season, and what better way to enjoy it than for breakfast in a great, big strawberries and cream smoothie? I'm a fan of drinking my breakfast, always have been, and it's not just because I enjoy a cup of coffee every morning. (Thanks, Grandma!)
Strawberries and yogurt make breakfast feel like a dessert course to start your day, but it's one packed with vitamins, potassium, and probiotics that will help you get off on the right foot.
Strawberries and Cream Smoothie
½ cup cleaned strawberries
½ cup milk (cow's milk, almond milk, coconut milk, soy milk)
½ cup plain Greek yogurt
1-2 tablespoons raw honey (to taste)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
6 ice cubes
Blend together until smooth. Add more milk to thin until desired consistency is reached. Drink immediately and enjoy.
To do ahead: Try freezing smoothies and removing from the freezer a few hours before enjoying. This is a great way to pack them in lunches or for on-the-go.
