Want to Make Sure Your Kids Eat a Healthy Breakfast? Get Them Involved!
Guest post by Bill and Claire Wurtzel.
Our granddaughter, Daniela, lives next door and loves to come to our apartment and make her own amusing healthy snacks under Bill’s supervision. When she was 3 years old Bill made the images, she observed him carefully, and then devoured it.
At 4 Daniela told Bill what she wanted him to make. Now 4 ½, she loves making her own food. Cutting up food and making an image is intriguing to her. It is also a wonderful outlet for her curiosity and creativity.
Daniela loves to make an elaborate fruit snack and then slowly and deliberately- munch away- limb by limb.
Some of our friends, inspired by Bill’s images make amusing food with their children or grandchildren and send us the results. A grandmother of 7 year- old twins made pancakes and the girls sent us a Thank You note.
Making healthy funny foods not only helps kids learn about nutrition in fun ways, it also supports cognitive, emotional and physical development.
