Food And Jazz Improv
Bill, who is an artist and jazz guitarist just did a food and jazz workshop for families at Jazz at Lincoln Center with renowned bassist Jay Leonhart.
They opened with an original Funny Food song.
“Make a Funny Food for breakfast, because it’s fun to start your day
Using your imagination, in a silly, healthy way
Funny Food, you can do it. Tastes good when you chew it.
Make a Funny Food for breakfast, and Funny Food will make your day.”
Everyone sang along at the close of the show
The kids learned that great music and healthy food make you happy, give you energy, are soothing, help you focus, can improve your memory and heal your body.
When Bill’s images were projected he told the group that breakfast is the most important meal of the day because we’re like cars. Our bodies need fuel to get started and keep moving.
Bill said, “It’s easy for Jay and me to improvise, making up new music on the spot, because we have years of experience playing jazz.”
Then he connected it to making Funny food.
“Food improv is easy for me because I’m also an artist. You too can improvise with food. It doesn’t have to be perfect because you’re just having fun… and you’re going to eat what you make.”
