Give Exercise A Whirl!
I thought about the commitment I made in last week’s blog and it forced me to keep my promise.
I finally saw an orthopedist- weeks after I injured my knee in a fall. I was concerned that I had a tear or a fracture. And, it was the perfect excuse not to exercise.
The doctor assured me that it was just a bad bruise and I should begin to exercise, but to start slowly.
So I went to the health club with my husband, Bill, who is a swimmer, not an activity I enjoy. I used the stationary bike and some weight machines, but was careful no to overdo it. We plan to go to the club together and inspire each other.
I’m on track and feel in control and proud of myself.
I saw an inspiring video clip of the first lady, Michelle Obama, on the Dr. Oz Show, a jump rope demonstration and interview.
Mrs. Obama appeared on the show to talk about preventing childhood obesity. She mentioned that when she travels and can’t do her regular exercise routine she jumps rope in her hotel room.
I wouldn’t want to be in the room below hers.
In the clip, Michelle teaches Dr. Oz her awe- inspiring jump rope routines. She doesn’t break a sweat and Dr. Oz has a hard time following her moves. She jumps knees up high, sideways, double speed, forwards and even backwards. Jumping rope gives her a cardio workout and helps her keep those famous arms in shape.
Mrs. Obama has made child nutrition and physical activity her major focus as first lady.
Wish we could get Michelle Obama to look our book, Funny Food; it fits so well with her Let’s Move Initiative.
