Enjoying Your At Home Spa
Last week I showed you how to create a home spa in your bathroom. Once you have your home spa all ready, here are some additional ideas for enjoying it! Follow these tips to ensure a relaxing experience right in the comfort of your own home.
AMBIANCE
Plants and flowers make such a big difference when you are looking for that spa-like look and feel. Orchids have been very popular in the bathrooms for a long time, and well, while they are beautiful, try something little different, like bamboo. Or try something as simple as one rose in a small glass or other cut fresh flowers. A little detail goes far in your bathroom!
Scent diffusers are a great for making your bathroom smell like a luxurious spa. Scents play a big role when you are trying to relax. Recommended scents for stress relief and relaxation include lavender, chamomile, ylang ylang, jasmine, clary sage, bergamot, and sandalwood. Another option is scented candles, they also provide a nice dim light for relaxing in.
BEAUTY TREATMENT
I recommend reading Lifetime Moms Beauty & Style editor Erika's home spa pampering ideas and ultimate product finds along with a great beauty regimen to follow. In addition, here are some easy tips on how to use Epsom Salt for creating a relaxing bath or exfoliating treatment.
Epson Salt Tips:
· Exfoliate: Mix 2 cups of Epsom Salt with 1/4 cup of petroleum jelly and a few drops of lavender essential oil. Gently scrub away dry skin patches by massaging with the scrub.
· Relaxing Soak: Add two cups of Epsom Salt to the water in a bathtub; soak for at least 12 minutes, three times weekly. For an extra treat, add a few drops of eucalyptus oil for a refreshing scent.
· Foot scrub: Mix 2 cups of Epsom Salt with 1/4 cup of petroleum jelly and a few drops of your favorite essential oil. Use the mixture to gently scrub your heels and dry, rough patches on your feet.
AND FINISH IT UP WITH SOME TEA...
Some of the best teas I have tried have been in luxury spas. Well, until I found out about Language of the Leaf teas. Try their organic Calm tea is perfect for after home spa relaxing. Calm by Language of the Leaf has Organic Peppermint, Chamomile and Rooibos, with a slight honey taste mixed with refreshing mint. It's soothing, restful and simply said: calming. And for the true serene spa-feeling, splurge on a nice tea pot and cup as well. You will realize that every single detail is part of your spa experience - even if it is at home. (You might prefer iced tea during the summer months -- brew a pot and put on ice for a refreshing treat.)
