Stokke Tripp Trapp Chair – From Baby Years to Dorm Days
One of the best products I have ever purchased for my children is the Stokke Tripp Trapp highchair. In fact, we have three of them, one for each child. The word “highchair” doesn’t really fully describe it, because this chair can be used way beyond the baby and toddler years. The chair is uniquely designed to “grow” as your child grows, and it can always be adjusted so that it is ergonomically the right size. The chair is solid wood and even adults can use it.
The picture tells it the best – as you can see, the seat is adjustable and so is the footrest. It is very simple to assemble and adjust. It looks much better around your dining table than one of those large plastic chairs, and tots and smaller children don’t feel like they are little babies using a highchair or a booster, but the Tripp Trapp actually is a self-confidence booster, because the child has a “real seat” like the rest of the family.
Tripp Trapp comes in 11 different colors, including natural wood colors and black and white, as well trendier colors like yellow and aqua. While the modern look and the great color selection appeal to me, as a mom I still like the safety of the chair the best. The chair is designed to be so sturdy that it is practically impossible to turn over. In the past 9 years, my children have tried turning their chairs over without succeeding, the chairs have seen tomato sauce and sticky fingers, and yet they are in great shape.
Stokke Tripp Trapp has won several safety and design awards, and is one of the most popular pieces of children’s furniture in Europe. No wonder that now also even Gap.com offers it in their selection. It is fairly well widely available in the baby stores and online.
While the Stokke Tripp Trapp’s base price is $250.00, that alone may seem high, the actual price for the highchair will be close to $370.00 if you also purchase the available seat pillow and the baby set (which you will need for babies and tots). And yet, it is worth every penny. In fact considering that my nine-year-old daughter has used her Stokke Tripp Trapp at least 3 times a day for the past 9 years, it is one of the best purchases we have ever made. Now she is using the chair with her school desk, and if she won’t take it to college with her – I will keep it!
