Must-Have

Two Summer Saviors Great For Playground, Park, or Pool

1. Monkeybar Buddies: If you have a little girl, you know how lovely little dresses are. But when she's crawling up the jungle gym or swinging upside-down on the monkey bars, you might not want just an itty-bitty pair of underwear (or diaper) be the only thing that's covering her rear. While most toddlers don't care at all—and I am not prudish or thing anyone is leering—I do think some school-age kids aren't too keen on being so exposed. These teeny shorts are the perfect solution, which also add a layer of protection from scrapes and scalding slides or swings. They actually remind me of the boxer briefs that some men wear. They come in fabulous patterns; the little bow on each side is inconspicuous but a lovely touch. I just love the company's tag line: "Run, Jump, Play. Be Yourself." Something we should all do! ($16 each)

2. Babiators: Okay, these get the award for super-cute product name, for starters. (Just try not to say it aloud without giggling.) Sure, there are sunglasses for little ones available at many stores, but these are the only ones my daughter will actually keep on her face willingly. They are sized JUST right, they don't squeeze sensitive ears, etc., and they are just darn bad-ass. Obviously, the fact that they provide full, broad spectrum protection from the sun is key, too. ($20 per pair)
