9-Year-Old Girl Becomes Pee Wee Football Star in Boys’ League
A video of a peewee football player from Salt Lake City, Utah has become an internet sensation because the youngster has some fancy footwork (and some stats to match) that would impress Eli Manning.
But here’s the rub. The football player is a girl!
According to the highlight reel which has been viewed approximately 2 million times on YouTube, Sam Gordon scored 35 touchdowns on 232 carries, totaling 1,911 yards and averaging 8.2 yards per carry. She also added 65 tackles, for good measure. And for those of you who don’t “speak football” – that translates into “really effing amazing”.
Her father Brent (who posted the video) boasted that there were 172 kids in her district who tried out for a Gremlin team. During tryouts (this was her FIRST YEAR playing football); Sam tested the fastest in every single speed and agility drill. Gordon ended up starting at quarterback for her team, which only called running plays. And this girl can take some hard hits!
Watch the video below:
“Most of the times it’s just really fun to be the one scoring the touchdowns rather than the boys,” she said.
Can’t argue with that!
Would you let your daughter play football? Would you be more concerned about head trauma for her than you would be for your son?
