Mom Leaves Infant in Car with Note While She Shops
Loading and unloading your baby when you go shopping can be a hassle. It was one of the reasons I took to online shopping when my kids were younger. But a New Zealand mom recently sparked outrage when she said, “To hell with it” and left her infant in her car with a note for folks passing by to call her if there was a problem”. Come on, now.
A witness told the New Zealand Herald: “It was written from the baby’s perspective and it said ‘My mum’s in doing the shopping, call her if I need anything’, and it had the cellphone number.
“We waited there for a little bit, wondering if the mum was just going to be two seconds and come back. And my wife said, ‘I’m not going in without someone being here with the baby’.”
The couple was then joined by two other people and the child’s mother was eventually located. A picture of the baby was later posted on Facebook and the story then quickly went viral.
The same witness, who said the baby appeared well cared for, added: "As parents ourselves we know it is hard to get a baby to sleep, and once you start moving them they can wake up ... we thought it was just a silly decision by a tired mother."
Tired or not, this mom put her infant in harm’s way – it was a stupid decision on her part and while there’s been no mention of charges being brought against her, I think she needs a wake up call.
What do you think? Have you ever been tempted to run an errand while your little one was sleeping in the car?
