Project Runway

Bright Lights, Big Designs & a Flirty Look For Moms

I couldn’t watch last week’s "Project Runway All Stars" live because we are currently in the trenches of house projects galore.  In the past several days, we’ve cleaned out the garage, painted and started putting together our lil’ dude’s big boy room, as well as started to redecorate the living room. Why did I take on all these projects at once do you ask? Because I’m pregnant and crazy of course! Haha! My poor hubs…

All I can say is, thank goodness for DVR! If I couldn’t get my PR All Stars fix in each week, I might go bonkers. Just sayin’. When I did finally find the time to sit down and watch the latest episode, I wasn’t disappointed.

The designers were assigned the challenge of creating avant-garde designs that incorporated lighting. In my opinion, there were only a couple missteps and both of the designers who made them ended up in the bottom. Jerell and Michael created looks that just weren’t up to par with the others.

Although, Jerell was the one sent home, I think if he had made some tweaks to his look, like losing the long, frumpy underskirt and styling mistakes…It probably would have gone another way. That being said, Jerell definitely didn’t defend his garment when I chatted with him. And he had me cracking up by the way!

When asked about the judges’ response to his design he said, “I have to pretty much agree with them. Sometimes you get it right and sometimes you don't. I'm not delusional...Strappy sandals and socks…I mean my mom taught me better than that!”

Despite his performance last week, he doesn’t have any regrets. When I questioned whether he would go back and do anything different, he responded, “No regrets. I'm a very fun loving, go with the flow kind of guy. It's important to enjoy the process and have fun with it. At the end of the day, it's a television show.”

And when asked who he thought would take the prize in the end, he had this to say… “These people have been tried and tested. All have very strong points of view. Even though Austin has had some sassy sh** to say, I love him. May the best man or Kenley win.!”

If you’re itchin’ for some more Jerell, make sure you check out his website, where you can purchase pieces from his new line!

For this week's look below, I chose to draw inspiration from the material that the winner, Austin, used. He designed a magical creation with black tulle. I wasn’t sure that spring was a time most of you would want to rock black tulle, so I chose a delicate blush, tulle skirt as the starting point for a fun, feminine look!
