Army Wives
Catch Up With Your Favorite "Army Wives" Cast Members! First Up: Sally Pressman (Roxie)
Ever wonder what your favorite cast members wanted to be when they grew up, or how close they are with the rest of the cast? Well, we've got just what you're looking for!
The crew at Ft. Marshall opens up to Lifetime Moms, check out what Sally Pressman (Roxie) has to say about potential motherhood and a whole lot more.
Lifetime Moms interview with Sally Pressman:
What did you want to be when you “grew up”? Did you always want to be an actor/actress?
Sally Pressman (SP): I started out wanting to be a ballerina. I also had aspirations to be Rainbow Bright but those didn't quite pan out...as I grew up I realized more than anything I liked performing.
Is there a piece of advice that your mom or dad gave you as a child/teen that still rings true today?
SP: Never quit!! I use that advice every day
Does playing a mother give you any insights into what parenting is really about?
SP: Yes, it tells me it's exhausting. My puppy who I bring everywhere with me is an even better lesson in parenting. Even when she drives me CRAZY, I love her so much it hurts.
What are some of your guilty pleasures?
SP: Two main ones: tv and frosting
What’s your “get out of the house in a hurry” makeup routine?
SP: Mainly, I hurry out with no makeup at all, just moisturizer an eye cream. A step up from that is concealer, "Cactus Flower" by NARS blush, mascara and a clear lip balm like Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream which I ALWAYS carry with me.
Do you ever have to deal with negative feedback from “fans”? Maybe some Army Wives who don’t appreciate your portrayal (or other characters) on the show?
SP: Luckily no!!
Would you/did you ever consider a life in the military? How would you do as a true “Army Spouse”?
SP: I never did, no. And I am certainly not strong enough to be a real Army Wife. I would not be able to handle being alone that often and fearing for my husband's safety and having that little control of our lives.
With such a busy schedule, how do make time for yourself?
SP: While working I can be very antisocial when I'm not filming. My top priorities are getting 8 hours of sleep (even if that means I'm in bed at 8:30pm) and working out 5 or 6 days a week (even if I have to get up at 5am to squeeze in an hour before work or do an hour at 8pm after work).
Do you support/participate in any non-profits or charities in any way?
SP: I work with Oceanna and Canine Assistants and I am always working with The Humane Society, ASPCA and Nature Conservancy.
How hard is it to start working with a new cast member, especially in a show where you’ve been working together with the same people for quite some time.
SP: That depends on the new actor...sometimes people mesh better in our group than others. But this year we have been so lucky. Alyssa, Kelli, Kellie and Ryan are all amazing, strong, beautiful, funny and incredibly talented women. I ADORE working with every one of them.
How hard is it saying goodbye to someone you’ve worked with for so long?
SP: Saying bye to Brig when she left was honestly hit wrenching. I love her so much. She is like an older sister I never had. She was a consummate professional, she was grounded and we were so close and connected. Our show hasn't been and will never be the same without her.
Do you get close with the other cast members? Do you see each other once filming is over?
SP: We are truly like a family...so close, sometimes too close! Drew and I are like brother and sister. We see each other all year round.
If you found out the spouse/partner of a friend was having an affair, would you tell your friend?
SP: That is a tough one! I would probabaly talk to her a lot about him, see if she had any inclinations about it and gently try and show her.
How much does technology play a role in your life? Are you addicted to twitter, Facebook? Do you read any blogs regularly?
SP: I hate Facebook, but I'm on twitter every day. I also Skype with my husband regularly. All my reading (books, newspapers, scripts) I do on my iPad.
Have you ever started your own business? If not, would you like to? What would it be?
SP: A cupcake business!!! I would love to!!
Don't miss Sally and all of your other favorites every Sunday at 9pm/8c on Lifetime.
