Army Wives
Catch Up With Your Favorite "Army Wives" Cast Members! This Week: Kim Delaney (Claudia Joy)
Ever wonder what your favorite cast members wanted to be when they grew up, or how close they are with the rest of the cast? Well, we've got just what you're looking for!
The crew at Ft. Marshall opens up to Lifetime Moms, check out what Kim Delaney (Claudia Joy) has to say about popcorn and M&M's, and more!
What did you want to be when you “grew up”? Did you always want to be an actor/actress?
Kim Delaney (KD): I WASN'T SURE. I TOOK A COURT REPORTING CLASS, THOUGHT THAT WOULD BE A GOOD CAREER. THEN I STARTED MODELING, MET A BUNCH OF PEOPLE AND WAS INTRODUCED TO BILL ESPER AND TOOK HIS 2 YEAR CLASS FOR ACTING.
Is there a piece of advice that your mom or dad gave you as a child/teen that still rings true today?
KD: THEY TOLD ME TO MAKE MY OWN LIVING, NOT DEPEND ON ANYONE FOR THAT. ALSO, TO REMEMBER PEOPLES' NAMES-MAKE IT PERSONAL.
Does playing a mother give you any insights into what parenting is really about?
KD: I WAS A PARENT ALREADY. I'VE HAD ON-THE-JOB TRAINING-STILL DO!
What are some of your guilty pleasures?
KD: DARK CHOCOLATE, CARAMEL. POPCORN AND M&M'S
What’s your “get out of the house in a hurry” makeup routine?
KD: FACE LOTION, SUNSCREEN, MASCARA, 8 HR LIP CREAM
Do you ever have to deal with negative feedback from “fans”? Maybe some Army Wives who don’t appreciate your portrayal (or other characters) on the show?
KD: MY FANS HAVE BEEN TREMENDOUSLY KIND AND APPRECIATIVE THROUGH THE YEARS. AS FAR AS ARMY WIVES, I HEAR SO MUCH POSITIVE FEEDBACK. THEY'RE THRILLED WE'RE SHOWING THEIR SIDE.
Would you/did you ever consider a life in the military? How would you do as a true “Army Spouse”?
KD: I'M IN AWE OF OUR ARMY WIVES, ALL MILITARY SPOUSES.
With such a busy schedule, how do make time for yourself?
KD: LOTS OF BALANCE. WE DO WORK LONG DAYS. I MAKE SURE I WORK-OUT, DO YOGA, HAVE NICE SOCIAL DINNERS AND RELAXING DOWN TIME, MOVIES, MASSAGES.
Do you support/participate in any non-profits or charities in any way?
KD: I'M INVOLVED WITH CHILDREN'S ACTION NETWORK, WEST LOS ANGELES FISHER HOUSE, JUVENILE DIABETES, MILIFIDEL AMONG OTHERS.
How hard is it to start working with a new cast member, especially in a show where you’ve been working together with the same people for quite some time.
KD: OUR CASTING DIRECTOR, RICHARD FUTCH BRINGS IN THE BEST GUEST CAST. WE ARE SO LUCKY THERE. IT'S ALWAYS SMOOTH AND THE PERFECT CHOICE.
How hard is it saying goodbye to someone you’ve worked with for so long?
KD: I HATED TO SEE BRIGID LEAVE THE SHOW, THAT WAS HARD BUT WE STAY IN TOUCH! WHEN JIMMY SMITS LEFT NYPD BLUE, THAT WAS A TOUGH ONE TOO. EVEN WHEN I LEFT ALL MY CHILDREN, IT WAS DIFFICULT EVEN THOUGH IT WAS MY DECISION. BUT, THE GREAT THING, WE'RE ALL STILL IN TOUCH.
Do you get close with the other cast members? Do you see each other once filming is over?
KD: YES, I DO STAY CLOSE WITH A LOT OF THE PEOPLE I WORK WITH. ACTORS, PRODUCERS, WRITERS, CREW. I'VE MADE REALLY GREAT FRIENDS.
How much does technology play a role in your life? Are you addicted to twitter, Facebook? Do you read any blogs regularly?
KD: I'M NOT ADDICTED AT ALL. IT'S DEFINITELY CONVENIENT THOUGH.
