Diary of a New "Dance Mom": Week 2 Recap

Well ok, so Kendall is not last on the pyramid, although I thought she might be because Abby was not pleased with her very first performance as an Abby Lee Dancer.  She is however still on probation.

Probation - a trial period, an experiment.  I explained to Kendall what probation means and why Abby feels she should be on it.  I was caught a little off guard when Abby kept Kendall on probation.  I just want Kendall to relax, not feel so much pressure and dance her little heart out for Abby.  It looks like she is going to have to prove to Abby that she was the right choice for this dance team.  I hope Kendall's performance in this week's group number will prove her worthiness to Abby. Kendall does not have an ALDC jacket like the other girls, its hard for a young child to feel like part of a team when they are treated differently.

I am honestly not sure why Christy felt the need to point out that Chloe and Maddie both beat Kendall at a competition TWO years ago.  I know how good all of the children are, I never said Kendall was better than these girls, I said she is a good addition to them.  Christy can be so hurtful, for no reason.  I am there to get Kendall the best instruction I can.  I cannot say why the other girls are at Abby's, I can only speak for my daughter. But I am absolutely a team player! 

It was an uncomfortable moment when Christy pulled out the program book, I would never treat a new mom with such disrespect!  I think Christy should mind her manners and give Kendall a chance. 

So the costume for this week came out of a plastic bag, and Abby wanted a crazy old fashioned hairdo to go with the old fashioned costume.  OMG! I was not loving this look for these beautiful little girls.  We had no pull with Abby, she was going to make us put the snoods on our girls.  I have to trust that Abby knows her stuff, but some things just can't go unchallenged.

The number was cute, not difficult, and it won!  It beat the Candy Apples big shot dance.  I still think Cathy's girls were too old to be in our category, but oh well. Abby however was not too pleased with our girls' overall performance. 

I cringed when Abby said  Kendall needed to listen to the music better as she is dancing.  I have to say that I believe Kendall has great musicality and Abby was just looking for something to say to knock Kendall down a notch.  There were many mistakes that we all saw that Abby could have mentioned, but she just mentioned Kendall's.  Like little Kendall said last week "I don't know what probation is, but I think I'm gonna be on it for a while".

I had the privilege of meeting Cathy for the first time.  OMG she's a crackpot!   Her soiree was interesting.  Her intent was to let each of us  know that we were crazy to let our kids go to Abby who does not have their best interest at heart.  Cathy is very high strung, she needs to take a chill pill.  If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all!

I'm not sure what to expect for next week, I feel like I never know what to expect... ever!  Trying to stay calm and do what I'm told, of course for Kendall's sake.
