Get To Know...Dance Mom Kelly
Will you be tuning in to the Season premiere of "Dance Moms Season 2" Tuesday at 9/8c on Lifetime? Get to know me a little better...
Q: Did you make any New Year resolutions?
A: My New Year resolution was to exercise and lose weight, but that didn’t work out so well! I gained 20lbs this year, so I guess I will try again next year.
Q: What will we always find in your purse?
A: My kid’s hands! – they are always stealing my money
Q: What are some of the ways you try to stay fit on the road?
A: Well I’m not fit, all we do on the road is eat at restaurants, eat junk food and drink. None of those are ways to stay fit but after filming I am so tired I just want to go to bed. There is no time for exercise.
Q: What are the top 5 ways you prefer to blow off steam?
A: If you watch the show you probably already know my 5 ways to blow off steam. I scream, I swear, I have a glass of wine, I shop, and I complain to my friends.
Q: What would you do if one of your daughters wanted to quit dance?
A: If my child wanted to quit dance, I would definitely be upset. I love to watch them dance and I think they have real talent, but I would let them make their own decision. I would never want them to be able to say I held them back from doing anything they wanted to do…… as long as they are happy, that’s all that matters.
Q: What were you like in high school?
A: I was a lot like Brooke in high school. I danced for Abby, I wanted to spend more time with my friends so I quit dance and did cheerleading.
Q: What’s the best piece of mother advice you’ve ever received?
A: My mother always told me to be myself and be kind to everyone.
Q: If your life was made into a Lifetime Movie, it would be called…
A: If my life was a Lifetime movie I think it would be called “My Three Kids” because my kids are my life, and my life goal is for them to be happy and successful.
Q: What’s your favorite recipe to make at home?
A: My favorite family recipe is a homemade chicken pot pie.
Q: Any tips for moms trying to bond with a daughter during those tween/teen years (it can be a challenge!)
A: I think the most important thing about raising a tween is to have an open relationship. Be able to talk to each other about anything. I think raising teenagers in this day and age you really have to pay close attention to everything they do.
Q: What is your biggest regret?
A: My biggest regret is not going to college. I always wanted to be a wife, and a mom, and I would never change that, but I would like to know in the back of my mind that I had something to do when my kids are grown and my husband is still working. Oh well, I guess I will have to keep going shopping and out to lunch.
Q: What would you prefer for your children after they graduate high school: Broadway or College?
A: I would like my kids to go to college because I don’t want that to be one of their regrets. I want them always to have a back up plan. What if they got injured and couldn’t dance anymore. I feel if they go to college they can also dance (as a minor), but if they only dance then they limit themselves. I think you should have it all in life.
