"PR All Stars" Interview & A Spring Look for Moms

A Broadway inspired design challenge sounds like it would be full of drama right? Well, the latest "Project Runway All Stars" episode certainly had its share of drama. From cattiness over how some of the designers have bonded to struggles over sewing machines, it seemed like emotions were running especially high last week!

This time around, the hubs didn’t join me in watching PR, which is a shame as I always enjoy his commentary. I’m sure he’d be thrilled that I put it out there that he watches PR…Haha! Did I mention he often watches "The Bachelor" with me too? I highly suggest you ladies try to “convince” your partners to watch your shows with you. They may do it kicking and screaming, but once they get into it, their point of view is usually hilarious!

So, even though I had to watch last week’s episode alone, I had a great time as always. A box of macarons fresh from an amazing New York City bakery kept me company. If you haven’t had a macaron yet, you must change that STAT…They’re glorious! The little lady bean that I’m cookin’ in my tummy insisted that I have no less than seven macarons, but I digress…Let’s get back to the challenge.

I can’t say that I was exactly surprised by who was eliminated. Kara struggled for much of the competition. After speaking with her on Friday, I definitely have a better understanding of why she had such a tough time. When asked why she didn’t think the Broadway challenge was for her, she replied that “A lot of the designers come from a costume design background. I come from a very commercial background. It's always hard to be there and translate what I've learned over the years from commercial success into something that will be visually stimulating for television.”

Although, she did struggle with this challenge, that doesn’t mean she thought that she should have been sent home for her design. She had this to say about Mila, the other designer on the bottom… “When I looked back at it, Mila's was obviously the worse of the two. I don't know how the back end works and how they make that decision on the runway. I didn't think that I was going home.”

Speaking of Mila…She has had a lot to say about the close relationship that Kara and Kenley share and Kara couldn’t care less. “You’re drawn to the same types of people. We gravitated toward one another. I didn't go in with an agenda to make friends or not make friends. Everyone had someone that they leaned on. Mondo had Michael and vice versa,” she said in reference to her friendship with Kenley. When asked if Mila expressed her issues with Kara and Kenley in their presence, Kara said, “Nobody brought it up in our presence. Mila doesn't open up as easily, whereas Kenley and I are very free spirited.”

Whether you enjoyed or were annoyed by the camaraderie between Kara and Kenley, you have to admit that it was entertaining!

I wasn’t in love with Kara’s design this time around, so I decided to use Mondo’s killer ensemble as the inspiration for my latest Project Runway All Stars inspired look. The gorgeous printed maxi and feather detailing were such fun elements to play off of! If you’re ready for spring fashion like I am, I think you’ll love this look! It’s comfy, chic and fabulously boho!
