"PR All Stars" Last Hurrah & Mondo Inspired Mixed Prints for Moms

Can you believe that "Project Runway All Stars" is over? I feel like I just watched the first episode yesterday! The hubs had a very sad and ridiculously hormonal wife on his hands last Thursday…even more so than usual, which is saying a lot.

I’ve truly enjoyed tuning in to Lifetime every Thursday to watch an incredibly talented group of designers churn out gorgeous look after gorgeous look. And I enjoyed the smorgasbord of snacks that I set up for myself each week even more. There I go talking about my hormones and food again. Hopefully, I won’t be hyper emotional or thinking about food morning, noon and night once this lil’ lady bean that I’m cookin’ is born. I won’t hold my breath. Haha!

So, what did you think of the finale? I thought all three designers put out some beautiful pieces. I connected with Austin’s collection a bit more than the other two, but I can totally see why the winner was who it was. I had the opportunity to speak with Austin and when I asked him if he was surprised that his final collection didn’t win it for him, he responded, “Not entirely. I know that in fashion, it’s always a matter of opinion. My fashion has a very strong point of view. That point of view might not be for everyone. For me, going on the show was just a chance to share my philosophy with the world.”

If we were to talk about judging the season as a whole, I would have to name Mondo as my favorite overall, so I had no problem with him being declared the big winner! I do believe his incredibly loyal fan base let out a very loud, “FINALLY,” after they called his name.

If

Sooooooooo very many people thought that Mondo was the rightful winner of his Project Runway season and that clearly affected him on All Stars. When I chatted with him last week and he was asked about the burden he seemed to carry, he said that “It was a lot, living up to the expectations of the viewers in response to the outcome of Season 8. I had to really get out of that headspace. That's a lot of pressure. Being on TV gave me the opportunity to review how I approach my process and I know I need to work on that.”

He went on to say that judge Georgina Chapman helped him keep going. “When I was having a really rough day, Georgina came up to me and mentioned that she could relate to going to that dark space and separating yourself from people for a while. She said it was ok to revisit something that you've already experienced. That gave me the courage and motivation to keep on working,” he said.

Despite his internal struggle, Mondo continually designed incredible looks that clearly spoke to the judges and the audience. I particularly enjoyed his masterful use of prints and after seeing Mondo’s interpretation of polka dots, this mama is even more excited about rockin’ polka dots than she was before! So, I had to style my last PR All Stars inspired outfit around Mondo’s final collection! And not only do I heart polka dots, but I’m all about mixing prints, thus the striped shoes! Remember the mixed print dress that won Mondo the Nanette Lepore challenge? After originally selling out, it’s back in stock and you can snag it over at Nanette Lepore’s site!

Well, I’m off. It’s been a pleasure being a part of this Project Runway love fest and I can’t WAIT for the next season! Who’s with me?!?
