Project Runway All Stars: Elimination Shocker & A Look for Moms on the Go

Forgive me if I’m a bit at a loss for words this week. The designer I picked to go all the way on Project Runway All Stars…The one whose looks I nearly always worship was sent home. Even my hubs, who I somehow roped into watching PR with me on Thursday was shocked.
Listening to my man candy complain about how the judges didn’t know what they were doing almost made me forget about how sad I was that my favorite would no longer be gracing my tv screen each week. Le sigh.

In this episode, the designers were instructed to create sportswear looks. They were put in pairs and pitted against each other. The fact that one would be given the high score and the other the low score expectedly led to tensions running high and one pair, in particular, was front and center on the dramatic forefront. At one point, Jerell looked over to see Michael constructing a coat that looked eerily similar to the one he’d been working on. This, of course, sent Jerell over the edge and the copycat complaint fest commenced.
This was such a big storyline, it was a bit hard to concentrate on what the other designers were doing, so when it came time to announce who was going home, I know I, for one, was blown away when Rami’s name was called. And I’m fairly certain that Rami was shocked as well.
They ripped apart the top that peeked out from under the jacket in his look, but that was by no means the focus of the whole look. That incredible jacket was the star and that didn’t seem to be taken into account by most of the judges. Rami had this to say about it… “The whole design was focused on the jacket and the pants. I worked hard and it's not easy to match up suede sleeves with constructed shoulder pads. I don't think my design was the worst.”
At the end of the day, however, while he doesn’t believe he should have been sent home for his design, he’s moved on. “For me personally, I’m at peace with what happened. My career doesn't start and stop there. You have to take it with a grain of salt and just keep moving. When life gives you lemons, you make the best lemonade possible,” he said. When asked if it was a relief to be done with the experience, he replied, “Absolutely. There were just some very difficult things to see.” Clearly, the Jerell and Michael issue wasn’t the only drama playing out. Apparently much was going on behind the scenes as well!
All drama aside, I have a feeling this isn’t the last we’ll be seeing of Rami. He’s currently filming a television pilot. He has a line of Papyrus cards in the works and he’s designed a collection for Bebe. I’ll definitely be looking out for anything he creates! Won’t you?

Since, I quite liked what he created for this challenge and seeing as the color palette didn’t offend my senses one bit, I decided to style a look that was inspired by Rami. This outfit would work for any mama on the go. While it’s fun and colorful, it’s comfortable and practical at the same time. I don’t know about the rest of you mamas, but a roomy bag is essential to my everyday look. Being the parent of a wild child toddler requires that I carry an array of snacks, toys, activities and more on the regular! And I just love the pop of color that the Modcloth bag lends to the look!
