Project Runway Finale At Fashion Week

Guest post by Kristin Swenson, Co-Editor of BonBon Rose Girls

Thanks to Lifetime Moms, I had the opportunity to attend the Project Runway finale show in New York City last week and what an amazing time it was! While I've been to my share of fashion shows, the Project Runway show was a different experience all together.

I stepped out of my cab at Lincoln Center bright and early Friday morning. As is always the case with fashion week, the vibe in the air was virtually electric. Daringly dressed people were flitting about outside, posing for photos and generally being fabulous. Once inside, I was faced with the hustle and bustle of the "tent." Mercedes Benz Fashion Week is no longer held at Bryant Park under a tent, however, in my mind, the venue will always be "the tent!"

After taking in the sights and sounds of the tent for a bit, the lovely Lifetime ladies and I took our seats and played name that celebrity. Among our sightings were Malin Akerman, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Project Runway alums Austin Scarlett and Nick Verreos and, of course, the judges Heidi Klum, Michael Kors, Nina Garcia and the special guest judge L'Wren Scott, who is absolutely breathtaking in person. Just sayin'.

We weren't seated long before Heidi Klum came out all a glitter in sequins. After a quick intro from Ms. Klum, the show began. We were treated to the collections of the nine remaining designers. There was an emotional element to the show that you don't always see at shows from established designers. I think that came from the fact that the designers' families were front and center. They definitely contributed to the emotionality of it all! I can only imagine what that experience was like for those families who have been watching their loved ones work toward their goal for years. To see it culminate in a production as big as the Project Runway show must be incredible!

Now that I've seen presentations from all the designers, I think I can definitely hazard a guess as to who will be in the final three. Are you ready? I'm going to say Olivier, Anya and Joshua M. will be the final three designers!

I happened to run into Becky outside the restroom of all places and she was kind enough to pose for a photo with me, despite the odd location. Haha! I then caught up with her for a phone interview yesterday and when I asked her which designers she thought had winning collections, her picks were Laura Kathleen and Anthony Ryan. As for my personal favorite, Olivier's collection, she had this to say about it..."It was very Olivier. It was grey and impeccably tailored." Olivier's collection was definitely very grey, but it also had some metallic elements that knocked my socks off!

Well, there you have it. That was my Project Runway finale show experience in a nutshell. So, do any of you have predictions lovelies?

Who do you think will end up in the final three?
